livejournal-gate [Jun. 30th, 2008|02:05 pm]
Tonight on A Current Affair, the top story is 'what happened when Belinda Neale went Bananas at Iguanas'. This is such a huge improvement on the oft-used iguana-gate tag, that I thought is deserved to be posted here.

Since Current Affair scandals and exclusives are my favourite topic I think I might start making posts about the best (translation- worst) efforts made by these programs.

My favourite from last week was the story about 'mega-mosques', supposedly for use by mega muslims.

Got to work early [Nov. 22nd, 2007|08:19 am]
It's been a week and I still have full internet privelages. Woo hoo!. I have been reading the onion during the day but I think I will eventually get bored of that. To update my last post, I am now going to Meredith AND Falls, within a fortnight of each other, thanks to Tim's awesome birthday present. Of course, if I knew that he had bought Meredith tickets I never would have agreed to giong to falls aswell. As fun as these things are, I get over the whole camping and port a potty thing within a few hours of getting there.

But I do get to see The Gossip, so excited about that!

Hello!!
Today is my first day at my new job, and for some reason they have seen fit to give me free reign of this new technology, 'The Internet'. It's now almost 1.30 and I have already run out of things to do with my new found internet access. It is for this reason that I have turned to live journal.

I guess all I can really think of to write is what i am up to. As i've already mentioned, I have a new job. It's very cushy, monkeys could do the work, but most importantly I'm in the middle of the city, which is really cool. There is a starbucks AND a Krispy Kreme visible from my window, which is how I think the property market should be valued.

Other than that not much is happening. I'm planning on being in Adelaide for Christmas, and then I'm going to Tasmania to go to Falls. We have even bought a tent for this experience, and I'm convincing myself that camping for two weeks around Tasmania will be "fun". Going to concerts has made up most of my social life this year. Highlights would be Jet, Arctic Monkeys, Cat Empire, Bob Evans and Augie March. Meredith was also pretty cool.

Well, thats my whole life at the moment. I am really really looking forward to going back to Adelaide and back to Uni next year.
I think I will probably make more posts now that its so easy to do this instead of working.
Bye!

Michelle is moving to not so sunny Melbourne!!

Due to work i'm moving in less than two weeks, which is pretty stressfull given my workload at uni. But my new job assures me i'll get time off to come home for exams, so hopefully studying will be my only concern.

Today my huge worry is telling my boss i'm leaving. Since there was not even anyone who could do my job while i went on holidays, i don't think i'm going to be very popular. But then I wont really have to deal with the fall out since i'll be 800 kms away. And the thought of actually leaving Big W after SIX YEARS is so exciting!!

Other than that, there's not really much else to sort out. I'm driving the car down there the day before i have to start the new job. I have somewhere to live, which is now OUR apartment, which contains OUR bed, OUR coffee machine, OUR awesome dinner set, OUR winerack, and OUR lack of seating. (and Tim's inflatable dinosaur.)

[mood |Sunny]

I have just printed out my assignment ready to hand in. It is 4997 words, for an essay with a max word count of 5000. I think that this in itself deserves an award.

This means I now have 5 hours until holidays start.
And 3 days till I get to go to IKEA.
This will mean having to see Tim, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

Also I finally got my hair cut. Going to Alicia's hairdresser was a good move. It looks awesome. Though I doubt it will look the same after I have to blow dry it myself.

who wants to be a thousandaire? [Aug. 11th, 2006|06:14 pm]
I officially have a credit card.
I'm glad I was responsible with my $1000 limit, i can already tell this is going to end badly. I can see how those people on Dr Phil get into so much debt, it feels like free money.

Also, everyone who said how hard 4th year law was weren't exaggerating, I haven't had any sleep this week just trying to keep up with the reading. I haven't even looked at the assignments yet.

Wish I could have 6 months off. At least I have only 5 weeks till holidays, and counting...

So I've almost finished my major essay for the semester. And research aside, its only taken a few hours of actual writing. Very impressed with myself even if it is poorly written, badly structured and has a crap argument. Key though, is that my final sentence is kick ass. I also think that 60 references is bad for only 3500 words, though last year i think i peaked at 100 footnotes for one of my history essays. Basically if i have no idea what i'm doing I just string some cool sounding quotes together that seem to fit the topic. Kind of like hey, i don't know but here's what some other people think.

I should probably be proof-reading and the like, but its just so poor i don't know where to start, and its really boring to read as well.

PS. My dog looks bad-ass mo-fo fa-shizzle in a beanie.
I got bored earlier.

I bought a new hairstraightener and it is damn awesome!
AND i heard that starbucks is opening in the mall!!! I am so freaking excited. I realise they make shit coffee but that is not the point. I get excited by these sorts of things. Worse though is that it was Darryl who told me, and he is just as pumped about the whole thing.

So in sum, the world is great, if only i wasn't about to fail Commercial law, possibly the worst essay i've ever written.

Notice the new user pic- apparently the other one didn't look like me.
It looks like me a few months and a lot of kilograms ago.
Which leads into my day- i went shopping because my clothes have been getting steadily smaller. It was not as much fun as exactly this time last year when i bought a new wardrobe because all my clothes were too big.
Of course I ended the spree with a massive latte with hazelnut and a tonne of sugar, so i can only blame myself.
Not that i'm fat mind, just overweight... idiot!

oh and hot matt looked especially nice today, in his peter alexander ugh boots mmm. And alicia pretends she didn't, but she so did notice the groin definition in his trackpants. As did every other female in the room.

I have realised how negative my posts have been recently. I defend myself with the fact that I have been, and will continue to be, incredibly stressed as we head into the final month of the semester.

Law really isn't as slack as every one seems to think it is. There is an incomprehensible amount of reading, and no information is actually provided for you, you have to find it all yourself in cases and then apply it. Which takes AGES and alot of concentration.

But i have been able to reduce my stress levels a fair amount by just getting my life a little more organised so i feel a bit more in control.
To begin with, my room is now painted. This exercise really got me unorganised... My parents decided to do this while I was away and so in preparing my room just put my stuff anywhere and everywhere. And then on top of that dad spilt a whole tin of paint , which meant recarpeting the whole second level of the house. This meant every single thing had to go downstairs, so my life was in total disarray for a fair while.
But now I have managed to get everything back in order, and found all my books that got scattered throughout the house.
Aaaaand my room is an awesome colour, and the new desk looks so so cool in there. Next I just need a big-girl bed.

Another thing i managed to get slightly more organised is the move/don't move conundrum. Apparently rather than get credited in melbourne for what i've done here, I can study in Melbourne for up to 18 months and get credited here for that. Which is great because it means I can still do my final year and my bar admission at the same time, and that solves all my issues. This of course relies on getting accepted into a uni over there but thats something to worry about later.

So yes in summary, positive thoughts.. and a month until holidays.

i ate a big red candle [May. 22nd, 2006|06:36 pm]
So this is the point where i talk about law ball and how awesome it was and so on.

But unfortunately I can't remember anything. I did have a great time though and thats all that counts. Its fantastic how everyone is friends with everyone else when alcohol gets involved.

From anecdotes I know i spent most of the night lining up to pee and that i had an in depth disussion with Lisa and Zoe about how men are bastards, especially the men of the ex-persuasion, and then talked at length about how the men in question on the night had ugly women with them anyway, what were they wearing, what was with their hair and etc. Very amusing stuff.

Also I think i may have forgotten some important phone conversation after reading my sms's the next day, so yeah oops i'm a terrible drunk really sorry but the answer's ditto. And on top of that apparently I passed out whilst on the phone at the end of the night, i'm all class.

procrastination [May. 17th, 2006|01:32 pm]
Those of you who know me will be aware of my innate ability to procrastinate. Usually this shows itself in a more short term way but I am well aware that I am pathetically indecisive in more important things as well. For example, even though I know I don't want to be a lawyer, I have continued with this farce of a law degree because to do otherwise would involve a decision, a huge decision, which I can not force myself to make.

Being this indecisive is not just a quirk or personality trait, it is frustrating and tiring and beginning to wear me out. I figure that being this far into a degree in terms of both time and money I shoiuld probably just finish it but as you may be aware there is an annoying sub plot forming which complicates matters even further. This wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my habit of procrastination seems to be shared by my annoyance also, which means that it looks like I will once again just plod along on whatever path I find myself on because I'm too spineless to make a decision. Which is why i've been in such a bad mood of late, so apologies to those of you who have had to have contact with me.

On a lighter note, guess whose phone bill just reached $220? Thinking about the pair of boots I could have bought with that money is so very depressing. They're purdy!

planes, trains, and starbucks [May. 9th, 2006|02:46 pm]
So i made it back from Melbourne in one piece, all be it a much more subdued piece.

The predictions of sunny Melbourne were misguided, it was so freaking dark the entire time i was there, which served tim well as i wasn't AS repulsed as i might have been.

The oh so romantic first night there consisted of a mcdonalds meal and tin tin dvds. Which was not much improved upon the next night when melbourne ruined my shoes. they were blue and pretty.
Of course Chadstone made up for it. OH MY DEAR GOD!! so mannny shops, i was speechless and waaaay too excited about the whole thing, especially when compared to my shopping buddy, who managed to make people in shops feel sorry for him by looking so bored. He also adopted the familiar tactic of singing in stores so i'll leave, but thank god he didn't go as far as SOMEBODY used to do and stink out the store, and then giggle so everyone knows its him.

My excitement levels peaked, though, at the catching of the train! I was such a tourist, and acted like a total knob, but its well cool. Don't know why exactly, it just is. So when saturday combined catching a train and two trams, getting starbucks, shopping in Burke Street and Melbourne Central and dinner at federation square, i was stoked. oh and copious amounts of alcohol.
oh and dinner included chips with garlic aeoli... wicked!

The week was fantastic, Melbourne was awesome except for the hygeine in the house... eeew
And I guess Tim MAY have had something to do with it.

just a little bit

clarification [Apr. 30th, 2006|12:05 am]
It seems there has arisen a need to clear some things up, since it appears there is some confusion around adelaide...

First of all, (Tim block your ears for this) ... I DO like Tim. I fair bit. Though I will no doubt deny this later on. I am NOT using him for a trip to sunny Melbourne, which seems to be a common opinion. I don't think that the funding of airfares is as big a deal as seems to have been made of it.

Secondly, though I hoped common sense would prevail, I need to protest my innocence concerning some pretty harsh comments made in another person's LJ. I didn't make the comments, anything I have to say would get done under my own name, and I have better things to do than make personal attacks on people over the internet a year after the event. My innocence can be further proven by the fact that the less faithful amongst you traced the ISP and found that it was not me.

Which raises another pertinent issue. Although it seems some people are beyond convincing on this point, a year is a fair amount of time to get over something, and I am very over it. Those who know me can see this quite clearly, others obviously just don't know me.

Finally, I am not the type of person to air my grievances on an LJ post, but it seems people are more willing to discuss this stuff while i'm not around, so I had to vent somehow.
Otherwise, i'm a much cheery person :P with excellent grammatical technique

woe is me [Apr. 28th, 2006|09:54 am]
i think 4th year might be the one that finally breaks my spirit.

The subjects suck, the teachers are hopeless (except the dude doing our constitutional tutes, he's a champ) and there is WAY too much reading, all of which is either so basic you fall asleep or is so over my head i can't be bothered with it. For those of yoy not of the legal persuasion, you cannot understand the pain until you read some cases, especially high court cases discussing the meaning of one or two words. Over and over and over... argh!
All of this and no politics to break up the day... it may have been a useless degree but at least it brought contention and debate into my studies. And the opportunity to sit in a room with really bright people to discuss stuff with as well as those not so bright individuals that allow the rest of us to feel superior. Now i'm one of those individuals, and it isn't nearly as much fun.

All of this and i am, to say the least, slightly distracted...although i think after spending a week with me tim will get over this little phase of his and all will be back to normal. Especially if i don't finish writing this essay and have to stress out about it while i'm there.

Either way, this will be the first time i've taken holidays off of work since schoolies so i have to look at the bright side. Plus I can go shoppping, if i don't catch legionares and i don't get mugged, apparently i'm staying in an area thats worse than Modbury, who knew there was such a place...

(no subject) [Apr. 18th, 2006|08:41 am]
HUGE weekend had by all.
Friday night was pool, where i played one game but WON!!! shit yeah, this merely affirms how great we all know i am. Pool was followed by vodka, and there was no sleep. At all. I went to work at 7.30, and then after work had to race home to make it to Dani's party. A brilliant idea dan, it went off and will go down in history. The already brilliant party was made that much sweeter by the hungry george chips and the bar tenders arms at mansions.

I piked out way too early not that it helped i woke up so early on Sunday morning due to my stomach staging a violent protest against my chosen lifestyle. My attempts at an afternoon nap were thwarted by Lic who called to ask IF I WAS TRYING TO SLEEP!?!?! i would turn off my phone but i have these grandeous ideas about my own self importance.

Sunday night was Alicia's 21st. A night about 6 months in the waiting. It went off. There was dancing, and Sean (:P) and stupidly high shoes. And i spoke without slurring, an achievement in itself. And Lic, u looked well hot!!

Last night was my first chance at sleep in four days. And i was first awoken by lic for something which i dont even remeber and then by tiny tim to let me know they got home. A symptom of his own ideas of self importance.

So what have i learnt?
In Melbourne, they have better water, buses which open for you, better bus tickets and public transport systems, animals which don't die when you hit them with your car, alcohol on good friday, better pizza.

The line 'thats not what your mum said to me last night' is funny exactly three times (thrice)

Tim has no chest hair.

It is impossible to have a self esteem with certain people staying at your house.
I am ugly, have crap hair, am annoying, talk too much, have no friends, am not funny, am a bad kisser and can't drive. These are direct quotations.

Boys smell. The odour in my house right now is indescribable.

Equity assignment: done.
5% leeway on word limits are evil, more evil than the subject itself which is damn close to the antichrist.

Redeeming feature of the week, hot matt. his name's matt, and he's hot, its simple.
And he talks to lic... alot... he liiiiikes her.
semi-not-really-cute matt likes me, but if you saw hot matt you'd understand, there is no comparison.

Went on my second ever pub crawl last week. i had a blast. needless to say i was a rare chick at an engineering gig, so didn't have to buy any drinks. Yay, i'm cheap and an alco!!!

AAAnnnnd, i got my full licence... finally... i know your all very excited for me.

Bring on the holidays is all i can say. so much alcohol, so little time.

i can highly reccomend seeing brokeback mountain. Its such a beautiful story, and the scenery is gorgeous. Typically, I cried, but only at the end. The whole thing is made even more brilliant by the fact that heath and jake are oh so beautiful and look amazing in tight jeans and checked shirts.

And i also reccomend lolly gobble bliss bombs. haven't had them in years but i've been reawakened... mmmm.

I think that i'm going to check out flashback tonight, apparently its the new time warp. I have a feeling that the main thin they'll recreate is warmth, sweat, sleaze and a feeling of tacky but i'm sure it'll be a laugh.

love sucks [Feb. 14th, 2006|04:54 pm]
[music |bsb (still!!)- get another boyfriend]

another valentines day is almost over.
and quite predictably, there was no love, except from girls and one boy who i still think is too young. oh and chloe gave me a sock, but she's a whore and would do that for almost anyone so that lessons the sentiment.
i spent the day of love at the gym. i've actually been going regularly, but within a week, i'll decide i'm still not skinny and so couldn't be bothered anymore.
plans for this evening involve a movie with lic, if she's lucky i may get into the spirit of the day and we can put the armrest up. she'll have to buy the popcorn though, i'm not that cheap.
